Product VariationsExplore the fundamentals of Products in PXM, the different types of products, and how they interact with templates, price books, hierarchies and catalogs. We'll walk through use cases from different industries to demonstrate how products are dynamically managed across storefronts. By the end of this lesson, you’ll understand how to manage product types, attributes, and relationships to ensure your eCommerce platform offers a seamless experience for both you and your customers.

Understanding Products in Elastic Path

In Product Experience Manager (PXM) Products are at the core of your commerce offerings. They can be physical items, digital goods, or services that you want to sell in your store.

Products can serve as standalone products, bundled products, configurable products, parent or child products as part of product variations, subscription products, and more.

Products have associated attributes like name, description, SKU, and ID, and can also be linked to rich media assets like product images and digital files. Products are not attached directly to your pricing, catalogs and selling contexts. Rather, they are associated with price books, inventory, and hierarchies and nodes, subscriptions and more, which are then grouped dynamically together to create catalogs. These relationships help in structuring, categorizing, and managing your products efficiently, making it easier to handle a wide range of product types and configurations.
