Using Modifiers to Adjust Pricing and SKUs

Introduction

Modifiers in Elastic Path PXM allow you to adjust key characteristics like pricing and SKUs based on the options customers select. This dynamic approach ensures that your pricing structure remains flexible, and that each product combination is assigned a unique identifier.

Types of Modifiers:

  • Price Modifiers: Adjust the final price of a product based on selected options (e.g., +$50 for premium material).
  • SKU Modifiers: Automatically update the SKU for a product based on the combination of options.
tip

If you do not set the modifier value the system creates the child product with the corresponding option value appended (ex. brewed-coffeelarge).

Example Use Case 1: Window Manufacturer

A window manufacturer offers privacy glass as an optional upgrade for their windows. If a customer selects this option, a price modifier adds $100 to the base price, and a SKU modifier updates the SKU to reflect the upgraded feature.

Example Use Case 2: Cosmetics Brand

A cosmetics brand offers foundation with varying coverage options. Choosing full coverage triggers a price modifier that adds $10 to the base price and updates the SKU to reflect the specific combination of shade and coverage level.
